The lid will close after you move your hand more than 6″ away for three seconds. This automated trash can will help you prevent contamination and allow you throw away garbage even when your hands are occupied. The trash can has been laboratory proven to open at least 100,000 times without breaking. The batteries will keep it running for about 10,000 uses before needing replacement. The trash can uses regular kitchen trash bags and comes with a retainer ring that keeps the bag from falling inward.
